Kaielle Sykes (she/her)

Hi! I’m Kaielle Sykes, Med, LPC (she/her). I am a provisionally licensed psychotherapist at Roamers Therapy under the supervision of Candice Love, MSW, LCSW.
Seeking support for your mental health can be extremely difficult and even intimidating. Not only is it really personal, but it is also something that has been routinely stigmatized. When you’re feeling stuck with a sense of uncontrollable emotions, thoughts, and behaviors therapy can help. I strive to help my clients gain the self-awareness and tools needed to better their lives.
Each person is a unique individual with their own needs. Knowing that you are unique individual, I understand how necessary to acknowledge and validate cultural and sub-cultural experiences in the therapy space. You will find me creatively thinking of ways to engage you in this process as well as inviting you to examine the influence of these factors on your own life. Oppressive and stigmas are ever-present in our society, so, I strive to provide a safe space for you as my client where you are heard, seen, and understand within your own context.
Ultimately, my goal as a therapist is to create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging environment. I do this by validating your emotions, listening without judgment, and challenging you when needed. Highlighting your personal strengths will be helpful to navigate life’s ups and downs while also building resilience. Therapy is not a linear process and like life itself, may consist of bumps in the road. Keeping this in mind, you’ll find I welcome feedback and encourage my clients to be active participants in the therapeutic process. Though it may be hard, being open about what is or is not working will help us make the most of our time together.
I view therapy as an opportunity to gain insight into the relationship between your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Though some things are out of our control, we can learn to cope with our emotions, reframe our thoughts, and modify our behaviors. I will help you learn this using a solution-focused approach as well as a more humanistic version of cognitive behavioral therapy known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches will help you to modify the way you relate and respond to your experiences while also emphasizing your internal strengths and abilities. We will recognize the very real stressors and adversities in your life while also committing to using your strengths to cope with them and establish a healthy and fulfilling life.
