Sima Sohanaki (she/her)
Hi! I’m Sima Sohanaki, LPC (she/her). I am a psychotherapy fellow at Roamers Therapy under the supervision of Shaysa Villa, LCSW.
As an immigrant and bilingual minority woman who has dealt with many difficulties, and as a wife and mother of two adolescents, I bring a seasoned life experience to my counseling sessions. Throughout my life, I have learned to be resilient and face hardships with bravery and efficacy. I am determined and passionate about helping people to overcome their fears and manage their anxiety, depression, and life transitions since I have dealt with these issues myself. I am confident that my experiences in life allow me to connect and relate to my clients from various backgrounds in an accepting and empathic way.
My work with my clients is based on a dynamic, experiential, and growth-promoting approach that helps them understand how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. We work collaboratively to explore how our early life experiences shape us into who we are today. My approach is strength-based through an anti-oppressive lens and social justice.
Therapy has significantly improved my life. Speaking from my own experience, I realize that taking the first step and making the first call to talk to a stranger is not easy. It takes courage and commitment to our personal growth.
Things that bring me joy: Spending time with my family, my dog and my friends. I love cooking, traveling, dancing, walking and listening to music.
