Our Story

Roamers Therapy was created to meet a need that many people carry when their mental health suddenly catches them off-guard: the opportunity and space to feel truly seen, understood, and supported in having the life and relationships they‘ve always imagined.

When people take the step to start therapy, they often share the same frustration that in one of their most vulnerable times in life, while seeking care, that therapy feels like a guessing game and unclear why it sometimes helps and why it sometimes doesn’t. Some sessions can drift with no structure;  full of vague questions that seem ambiguous and do not have a clear direction. Others focus on quick fixes or trendy techniques, offering temporary relief but leaving deeper complexities untouched. In both cases, something is missing: a deep, intentional, and thoughtful approach that helps people make sense of their complex lived experience, story and identity and what needs to happen to bring about change.

Roamers Therapy was founded to offer a distinct and distinguishable guide to individuals, couples, and families in navigating their mental health care.

We understand that therapy needs a balance between depth and structure. With our work, we blend insight-oriented exploration with solution focused  structure that is always tailored to who your unique self is  and where you’re trying to go. We use an evidence-based approach while staying down-to-earth and collaborative so that the change doesn’t just stay in the room, it becomes a part of your life. This is a space where your identity, experiences, values, and challenges are treated with care—and where your unique story matters and guides treatment.

The idea became clearer during a conversation with a friend who had tried therapy several times before. Each time, they had walked in with the hope of being understood—and left feeling like they were either talking into a void or being rushed toward simplistic solutions that could have been Googled. What they needed was someone who could help them hear their own narrative, identify what was getting in the way, and work with them to map out a plan for real, lasting change. That conversation sparked the vision that would define Roamers. Roamers Therapy was built for people like that friend—and people like you—who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and want a therapist who knows how to listen, guide, and help make change possible.

Our Vision

Where every individual seeking mental health care expects and receives exceptional care that helps them understand their unique story and identity and the parts that hold them back as a given and right.

Our Purpose

We are dedicated to centering you, your partner, children, and family in our therapeutic process. Our goal is to truly get you—to be as attuned and connected as possible during this deeply complex and personal journey of caring for your mental health. Our approach is built on understanding your unique story, lived experiences, and multifaceted identity while delivering evidence-based care. We know that tailoring our care to your individual situation is essential. At Roamers Therapy, you are encouraged to show up as yourself.

Our Process

We begin with a thoughtful, multi-step assessment process and build a collaborative relationship between therapist and client, one rooted in attunement, trust, and care. At Roamers, you’re invited to show up exactly as you are, whether this is your first time in therapy or a continuation of your journey. We honor the fullness of your identity and meet you with humility, skill, and openness.

Throughout the process , we provide tools for insight, motivation, and real-life change so that therapy doesn’t just stay in the room, but becomes part of how you live, grow, and thrive.

Our Values

Trauma-Informed Care

At its core, therapy is about creating safety, a space where you don’t have to brace yourself for judgment, misunderstanding, or more harm. Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes how past experiences influence the way people trust, connect, and protect themselves, and uses that awareness to guide every part of the therapeutic process.

This means we pay attention not only to what you share, but to how we listen, respond, and pace the process. We strive to avoid re-traumatization, respect your boundaries, and honor your choice in what feels right for you. We believe healing happens when trust, collaboration, and empowerment are part of every step of the work.

Our clinicians are trained to recognize when trauma is present, even if it doesn’t show up in obvious ways. With compassion, curiosity, and cultural awareness, we adjust our approach so you can feel supported. Our goal is to create a trauma-informed space where that healing feels sustainable, sensitive to your past, and responsive to your present needs.

Culturally Informed Care

Culturally informed care recognizes and welcomes diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences, acknowledging the unique perspectives that each worldview brings to the therapeutic space. Our approach is rooted in cultural humility and awareness, honoring the values, histories, and traditions that shape each person’s story, invisible and visible identities.  When receiving care, we strive to ensure that all clients have their dynamic identities to feel respected, understood, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

LGBTQIA+ Affirming

We respect, support, and validate the identities and lived experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. We recognize the unique strengths and challenges individuals may face in society and in therapy, and provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can express and explore their identities without fear or hesitation.

Evidence-Based Therapy

We are committed to providing the highest standard of care through the use of evidence-based therapeutic modalities. These include the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Psychodynamic Therapy. Each of these approaches has been rigorously validated through scientific research and clinical trials, ensuring that our methods are not only effective but also grounded in the latest psychological findings.

Client Centered Practice

Our approach is guided by a deep respect for each client’s individuality, autonomy, and inner wisdom. Being client-centered means more than placing the client at the center of the therapeutic process; it means actively listening, honoring each person’s pace, and co-creating a space where their voice leads the way. Our therapists and practice management team approach each individual with authenticity, warmth, and a non-judgmental presence. We strive to build relationships based on trust, safety, and collaboration, and recognize that growth occurs when clients feel seen, heard, and empowered in their therapeutic journey.

Feedback-Informed

As part of our treatment approach, we have implemented routine and formalized Feedback-Informed Treatment. Feedback Informed Treatment allows clients to use their voice and for their therapist to utilize the client’s feedback to inform their treatment. When we say we are collaborative, we aim to align with that value strictly. Striving to understand what is going well and what has been a failure creates safety and trust. It maintains healthy communication between clients and their therapists and a culture of feedback among therapists and clients.

Ethics, Integrity & Honesty

We are unwavering in our commitment to ethical practice and professional responsibility. We uphold the highest standards of clinical ethics, ensuring that every aspect of the care process –from intake to discharge– is grounded in transparency and a trauma-informed framework that prioritizes client dignity and autonomy. We approach each session with integrity, cultural humility, and a deep respect for confidentiality, and believe that ethical consistency is the foundation for building the safety and trust necessary for meaningful therapeutic work.

Transparency in Care

Transparency in care looks like clear and forthcoming  communication, shared understanding, and honesty at every stage of the therapeutic process. It is essential to building trust and fostering collaborative therapeutic relationships. We are committed to fostering a culture of clarity, inclusivity, and mutual respect by communicating honestly and promoting transparency with our clients, colleagues, and community. From clearly stating therapeutic goals and expectations to openly discussing treatment options and limitations, we aim to ensure that every individual who interacts with our services feels informed and empowered.

Structured Care

We offer weekly appointments, as commitment is essential for psychotherapy to be effective and valuable. We also provide weekly supervision to our clinicians to help support their professional development and continuing education regarding our clients’ care.

Accountability

Accountability means taking responsibility for the care we provide, continually evaluating our work, and being responsive to feedback from clients and colleagues. Our clinicians and management team are committed to reflective practice, quality improvement, and transparent outcome tracking. We believe that integrity is demonstrated not only by intention but also by action, and we embrace accountability as the cornerstone of safe and respectful mental health care.
